Bennington Is at Halftime. Who Will Lead the Second Half?
With the recent announcement that Jim Brown will retire as President and CEO of The Bank of Bennington next spring, following Tom Dee's retirement from Southwestern Vermont Medical Center earlier this year, I found myself reflecting on a remarkable generation of community leaders who helped change the trajectory of Bennington.
Southwestern Vermont businesses don’t have a revenue problem, they have an expense problem
The results point to a clear economic pressure facing our business community: Our businesses don't appear to have a revenue problem as much as they have an expense problem (generally, not of their own making).
Becoming What the Next Decade Requires

They grow because they create environments where businesses choose to invest, entrepreneurs decide to build, families decide to stay, and talented people believe they have a future. That requires something more than optimism; it requires adaptability.
